LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - At the Lock Haven University Founder’s Day Convocation on September 2, President Keith T. Miller presented the 12th annual President’s Campus/Community Service Award to Citizens Hose Fire Co. #5.
The President’s Campus/Community Service Award is presented annually to an individual, group of individuals, or business that has done something significant that directly impacts our community and the university in a positive way.
"Citizens Hose Fire Co. #5 is celebrating its 100th anniversary of providing exceptional service to the citizens of Clinton County.” He added, “A staff of 40 highly-trained volunteer firefighters continually keeps our neighborhoods safe.”
Miller also recognized Citizens Hose Fire Co. #5 for providing emergency services for LHU’s football games, concerts and graduations; for providing scholarships to high school students; for teaching fire safety; and for being involved in many local events.” This record of service, said Miller, “is more than commendable.”
Julie Sanders, President of Citizens Hose Fire Company, accepted the award on behalf of the entire fire company. In accepting the award, she promised that Citizens Hose Fire Co. #5 “will continue to serve the Lock Haven community for the next 100 years.”
Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in
the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate
programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and
work in Pennsylvania.
