LHU admissions to hold Instant Decision Day for high school seniors

High school seniors can begin their holiday knowing whether they have been accepted to Lock haven University. Associate Director of Admissions Robin Rockey will review application folders on LHU's Instant Decision Day.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -
On Monday, December 21 and Tuesday, December 22, at 10 a.m., high school seniors are invited to the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center on Lock Haven University’s main campus to have their applications reviewed, tour the campus, and meet with an admissions counselor to learn of the admissions decision—all in the same day.
With more than thirteen years of admissions experience, Associate Director of Admissions Robin Rockey knows how frustrating this process can be for some. “One of the hardest parts of choosing a college is waiting to see if you are accepted. By attending this event, high school seniors will know if they are accepted before they leave campus. We hope this will be the beginning of a wonderful holiday season for those who take part.”
This is the first year that LHU is offering an Instant Decision Day. Rockey states, “As the local recruiter, I wanted to work more closely with the students in my territory. This prompted the idea to work with local guidance offices to hold instant decision days at their schools. This fall, we were able to hold them at Penns Valley, Bellefonte, Bald Eagle Area and State College high schools and plans have been made to do the same at Central Mountain. The response from students and guidance counselors has been overwhelmingly positive.” She adds, “The Haven is known for the personal contact that it offers and I wanted to do more to reach out to the prospective students in our local community. Hosting an Instant Decision Day here is a win-win. We expand our connection with local students and have an opportunity to provide an insider’s view of our campus. Students leave here knowing whether or not they are qualified for admission and what the next steps will be.”
Director of Admissions Stephen Lee notes, “The application process normally takes 4-6 weeks and during times of peak volume, closer to 6-8 weeks. This option allows students to learn our decision immediately. I am pleased that Robin is proactively seeking ways to improve communication within our local market.”
Students must complete and submit an admissions application prior to coming to the Instant Decision Day and must bring their high school transcript and SAT and/or ACT scores in a sealed envelope from their high school.
Registration is required. Students will be given appointment confirmations and specific details. Please register online at http://www.lhup.edu/admissions/instantdecision.htm . For more information, please call 570-484-2628.
