LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in
the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate
programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and
work in Pennsylvania.
The Lock Haven University women’s lacrosse team is sponsoring a Giant Yard Sale on January 23, 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the East Campus Gymnasium. According to Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Kristen Selvage, “This is truly a community event, a chance to sell your unwanted items, give them new homes, and have a good time socializing with your friends and neighbors.”
The women's lacrosse program will sell any donated items, but those who choose to sell their own items for profit can do so. The team is charging $10 for a half table, $15 for one 8-foot table, $25 for two tables and $50 for four tables. Those wishing to sell goods can register and pay for their tables online at http:/www.lhup.edu/lacrosse/Yard_Sale.htm.
Members of the women’s lacrosse team will be on hand to help participants unload vehicles and set up tables.
Coach Selvage urges members of the community to "Get out those boxes of yard sale items you were saving for the summer and bring them to our Giant Yard Sale. This is a great time of year to clean out the basement, closets and attic." “In addition,” she added, “it’s an indoor event so weather will not be an issue.”
The yard sale welcomes all sorts of items. Participants are urged to bring clothes, toys, collectibles, hobbies, crafts, electronics and other such items for sale. However, the lacrosse team asks that they be the only ones selling food at the yard sale.
Selvage and her team members are looking forward to a good turnout of both sellers and buyers. “This can be a fun activity for the entire community—a way for people to get out with their neighbors and snap up some bargains, make some money, and help a good cause at the same time.” All proceeds from the yard sale will benefit women's lacrosse scholarship opportunities.
The team is hoping to make the Giant Yard Sale an annual town-gown event.
