Martin Luther King Jr. comes to life on LHU stage

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -
Lock Haven University students stand in line to meet and have their pictures taken with guest speaker Jimmie D. Lucas, the featured speaker at LHU’s January 27 program celebrating the life and legacy of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Lucas, who bears a strong resemblance to Dr. King, conveyed the essence of King’s spirit and philosophy in his dramatic recitations and readings depicting the life and times of the civil rights leader. Lucas, an advocate of Dr. King’s philosophy of nonviolent civil action to effect social change, explained the historical context of Dr. King’s writings and speeches, and delivered excerpts that brought Dr. King “to life” for the audience.

Following Lucas's dramatic presentation, LHU President Keith T. Miller thanked him for helping LHU continue its ongoing efforts to advance understanding and personal growth.
