LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell has announced an appointment to the Lock Haven University Council of Trustees. The Pennsylvania State Senate has confirmed the appointment of Deborah M. Suder.
Suder is a government relations professional. Since 1993, she has been a member of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, in the firm’s State government Relations Section. Prior to joining Buchanan, she served as a governmental affairs professional for the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers and the Pennsylvania Retailers Association.
She earned her B.S. in political science and pre-law at LHU and her M.A. in governmental administration from The University of Pennsylvania.
In 2002 Suder received an Outstanding Young Woman of America Award and in 2009 was noted in Susquehanna Valley magazine as a Woman of Excellence. She has served on boards of directors for numerous organizations, including the Lock Haven University Alumni Association, the Lock Haven University Foundation, and the Harrisburg Regional Chamber. She has served on the Government Affairs Committee of the Pennsylvania Society of Association Executives, the Legislative and Developmental Affairs Committee of the State System of Higher Education Advocacy, and the Government Relations Committee of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber. Other civic activities include the Pennsylvania Council of Alumni Associations and service as a faculty member for leadership Harrisburg Area.
Upon confirmation of her appointment, Suder said, “I am thrilled to have been nominated and confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate as a Trustee to Lock Haven University. As an alumna of The Haven, I look forward to promoting the University as well as assisting to continue the outstanding role we play in getting students prepared for their futures.”
Suder added, “As Vice President of SCC during my years at Lock Haven and later on the Alumni and Foundation Boards, I have been actively waving the flag for years and will give my utmost support for the future of the University.”
Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in
the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate
programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and
work in Pennsylvania.
