LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University strategic planning committee invites members of the community to participate in an online survey.
Lock Haven University is in the process of developing a comprehensive strategic plan to guide the university through the next five years. This plan will replace the 2003-2008 “Framework for the Future” and the 2008-2010 Interim Strategic Plan.
The strategic planning process includes the university’s self-study for reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the report of the Foundations of Excellence task force, the Facilities Master Plan, Enrollment Management Plan, marketing surveys, and other existing reports and data, and will cover all aspects of university operations.
The strategic planning committee is focusing initially on clarifying the university's mission. The committee will gather feedback on proposed elements of statements of mission, vision, and core values, along with potential strategic planning goals.
The online survey will provide valuable feedback to the committee. Committee co-chair Deborah Erickson said, “The purpose of the survey data is to guide us as we revise our Mission Statement and assist us in developing strategic goals to move the university forward for the next five years.” Committee member Thomas Justice added, “The strategic planning process at Lock Haven University is fundamental in understanding where we’ve been and, in light of that, in understanding where we will choose to go in the future.”
The link for the online survey is http://cde.lhup.edu/surveys/strategicplanningsurvey.htm Survey responses are totally anonymous. The deadline for gathering data is March 29. If you have questions about the survey, please contact Denise Shoemaker, Assistant to the Provost at 484-2121 prior to completing the survey.
During April the committee will draft strategic goals, with ad hoc committees proposing specific initiatives, timelines, and assessment measures. The committee hopes to present its draft recommendations for the university's mission, vision, values, and strategic goals to the university community for feedback by early May. The final version is scheduled for completion by early July.
The strategic planning committee is co-chaired by Provost Deborah Erickson and Professor of Health Science Fay Cook. Other members of the committee are Virginia Roth, trustee; Jodi Smith, director of student activities; Stephen Lee, director of admissions; Valerie Dixon, assistant director of the Clearfield Campus; Randy Moore, fiscal technician, purchasing office; Kenneth Hall, director of human and cultural diversity; Robert Hall, police officer; Michelle Lawrence, student, SCC special projects liaison; Jim Meek, director of planning and assessment; Mark Cloud, professor, psychology; Patrizia Hoffman, associate professor, communication studies; Catherine Traister, professor and chair, health and physical education; John Leffert, assistant professor, physician assistant; and Thomas Justice, head coach, women’s volleyball.
