LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - On Saturday, April 24, Lock Haven University’s MountainServe Center for Global Citizenship sponsored the Big Event Day of Service, which is one of three national days of service. Participating community partners included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Clinton County Cleanscapes, Downtown Lock Haven, Salvation Army, Lock Haven YMCA, and Bald Eagle State Park.
Student volunteers for the Big Event also provided support to on-campus events including Earth Day on Russell Lawn, which was organized by the Biology Club, and the Clinton County Children’s Festival in the Student Recreation Center, which is spearheaded by LHU faculty members Dr. Zak Hossain and Dr. Punnipa Hossain.
Alexandra Carter, LHU student and AmeriCorps member who assisted in coordinating the day, said, “It was wonderful to see students working in the community. I heard so many wonderful compliments from community members as LHU students cleaned up downtown. It was a great day.”
