LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Twenty-six members of the Lock Haven University faculty have been promoted for the 2010-2011 academic year. The promotions were made after a lengthy evaluation process and were conducted in compliance with the faculty collective bargaining agreement and the LHU promotion policy. There are four faculty academic ranks at LHU: instructor, assistant professor, associate professor and full professor. Each rank is carefully defined and appointment or promotion is based on the faculty member’s credentials, professional expertise, and contribution to the university’s mission. Criteria for promotion are increasingly rigorous. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Deborah Erickson noted that “The ultimate rank, that of full professor, indicates the highest possible level of professional achievement for a faculty member.” She added, “On behalf of the entire Lock Haven University community, I want to congratulate all those who were recently promoted and to extend best wishes for continued success. I want to extend special congratulations to those who have reached the highest possible rank, that of professor.” Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in
