Events for campus and community during LHU Homecoming Oct. 15-17

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Homecoming 2010 at Lock Haven University on October 15-17 will feature a full slate of events, providing “something for everyone” on campus and in the community.

The weekend kicks off with a Faculty/Staff/Alumni and Emeriti Mixer following an Art Opening on Friday night. The Haven Arts Fest and a Homecoming Children’s Festival as well as a 5K walk/run are also being planned.

Open to all alumni and the public, the 11th Annual Homecoming 5K Run/Walk will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16. Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and is $20 per person. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers, the top three walkers, the top three finishers in each age group, the fastest mile time and the fastest team. There also will be team awards for overall male team, female team and coed team. The first 100 entrants will receive a free t-shirt. All proceeds from the event will benefit the LHU Track & Field and Cross Country Programs.

Beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday on Ivy Lane will be the Haven Arts Fest and the Homecoming Children’s Festival. At 9:00 the Alumni Association Memorial Program will be held in the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center. At 10:00 a.m. the Roll of Service Induction Ceremony will be held in the Parsons Union Building. Being inducted into this year’s Roll of Service are Dr. Bradley Black, Dr. John Way, Mrs. Carolyn Perry and Dr. Craig Willis. At 2:30 p.m. Rogers Gymnasium will be the site of a Haven Hospitality Reception; feel free to stop by and socialize with other alumni from the community.

At 1:00 p.m. two seminars will be offered in the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center: Dr. Richard Mikula will discuss Changes in Mathematics and Dr. Steve Granich will present Social Work in Central America.

Many athletic events will take place throughout the weekend on campus. Sporting events include Swimming, Softball, Football, Soccer and Field Hockey. For a full list of athletic events, log onto www.lhup.edu and click on athletics.
