LHU hosts German film: In July is a romantic rollercoaster ride through Europe

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University's Foreign Languages Department, in co-operation with the Office of International Studies, will be presenting the German movie "Im Juli" ("In July") on Tuesday, October 12 from 7 to 9 pm at the International House. The movie is subtitled in English. The public is invited to this fee event.

“Im Juli” is a romantic, but also funny and entertaining road movie from Germany, 2001, starring the popular German actors Moritz Bleibtreu und Christiane Paul. The movie takes place in July, 1999, during the summer of the magnificent sun eclipse. The award-wining movie, which received many positive critiques, is about teacher Daniel, who runs into adventurous Juli. Juli predicts that he soon will meet the love of his life, actually talking about herself. Daniel, however, thinks that Melek is the girlfriend for him. But when Melek goes to Istanbul after a night with him, Daniel decides to follow her. On his way, he runs into Juli, who joins him, hoping that during the trip she will win his heart.

This very simple and yet complicated film is a wonderful love story – and not just for couples. (It is not for children under the age of 12.)

On their way through Europe, the actors Bleibtreu and Paul do an amazing job on showing that love is a rollercoaster and that sometimes true love is closer than you think. This movie combines tragic, funny, adventurous and touching moments within the beautiful landscapes of different European countries.
