LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The public is invited to an artist’s reception in conjunction with the new art exhibit at Lock Haven University. The exhibit, in the Sloan Fine Arts Gallery, showcases the work of Vincent Hron and can be viewed daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., November 10 – 23. The artist’s reception will be on Wednesday, November 10 at 8:00 p.m. in the Sloan Gallery.
A native of Omaha, Nebraska, Hron is associate professor of art at Bloomsburg University. His works use vivid color. In his artist’s statement, Hron says, “through exaggeration of color and distortion of space, I intend to convey some of my own wonder and uneasiness in the world.”
Hron’s works have been shown in many solo, small-group and group exhibitions throughout the United States. His work is in numerous collections, including the Avampato Discovery Museum at the Clay Center, Charleston, W.Va.; the University of Minnesota, Morris, Minn.; the Museum of Nebraska Art, Kearney, Neb.; the Frans Masereel Center, Kasterlee, Belgium; and the University of Michigan. His gallery affiliations are with the Uptown Gallery in New York, N.Y. and the Rosenfeld Gallery in Philadelphia, Pa.
Hron is the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and several fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and the Nebraska Arts Council.
Hron earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting and Drawing from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, and his Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Mich. He did post-graduate study at the Stare Art Academy in Karlsruhe, Germany.
