The 2009 Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk was a fun-filled event for a worthy cause. All proceeds from the 2010 event will benefit the Brian Kiefer Medical Fund.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - On Sunday, November 21, Lock Haven University will sponsor its 5th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk. Proceeds will go to Brian Keefer Medical Fund. The race begins at 9:00 a.m. at Huber Jack Stadium, with registration starting at 8:00 a.m.
The Brian Keefer Medical Fund was established to assist the Keefer family. Brian Keefer, a Lock Haven University student, was injured in a gymnastics accident in the summer of 2008 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Brian, his family and medical support staff have worked extremely hard over the last few years and, as a result, Brian has achieved incredible progress. Unfortunately, medical expenses are overwhelming and a long road still awaits him and his family.
The 5K Run/Walk draws about 150-175 participants each year. The course begins at the track with a beautiful view of the campus and river, then continues across campus to the dike and back. This year’s event includes great prizes, including tickets to the State College Spikes, Split Rock Resort Indoor Waterpark, a Sheetz gift card, and apparel from many Lock Haven University athletic teams. The first 150 people to register will receive a free event t-shirt. Snacks and refreshments will be provided after the event.
Registration for the 5K Run/Walk is $20.
The Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by the Lock Haven University Sport Administration students.
