LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -
Lock Haven University is pleased to host the Graduating Senior Art Show in the Sloan Fine Arts Gallery. The show, which runs until Dec. 18, features the work of Annika L. Johnson of Lock Haven. The public will also have an opportunity to meet with the artist at the show’s opening reception in the Sloan Gallery on Friday, Dec. 10 at 8:00 p.m.
Johnson is a 3-Dimensional major specializing in sculpture. She explained how she got interested in three-dimensional art and in working with wood. “I have always been interested in interior design,” she said, “so when I was given an assignment in my Intro to Sculpture class to make a chair that would best represent myself I decided to make a decorative chair constructed from wood.” She continued, “After I made that chair I realized how much I would enjoy making furniture that would decorate homes.”
Asked to comment on her solo exhibit, Johnson said, “This series shows a whimsical, organic flow of design that I have incorporated into useful sculpture, furniture."
Johnson is the daughter of Diane Mills and Jeffery Johnson.
