Lock Haven University CVPP to host film and discussion on stalking

CVPP Director Jennifer Bodnar and CVPP student worker Brittney Rieder prepare for the upcoming showing of “Swimfan.”

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University’s Campus Violence Prevention Program will host a viewing of the movie “Swimfan” at Ulmer Planetarium at 6 p.m. on January 27.
“Swimfan” stars Erika Christensen as a new student who becomes obsessed with Jesse Bradford who plays the star athlete at his high school. This movie presents stalking and how quickly it can escalate.
Following the film, CVPP student worker Brittney Rieder will lead a discussion about stalking. Rieder commented that “Stalking is an issue that tends to be overlooked, when in reality college students are one of the groups most vulnerable to stalking.” She added, “It is important that the students are aware of the signs of stalking and what to do if they find themselves being stalked.”

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and work in Pennsylvania.
