The annual Play for Brian/Open Rec Night brings the LHU community together in support of Brian Keefer.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - On Friday, February 25, 2011, Lock Haven University will sponsor its 4th Annual Play for Brian/Open Rec Night. The night is both a fundraiser and alcohol-free alternative for the campus community. Proceeds will go to Brian Keefer Medical Fund.
The event is a fun-filled night of games, music and food. The tournaments begin at 8:00 p.m. at the Student Rec Center, with registration starting at 7:45 p.m. Teams of 6 - 8 players compete in Dodgeball, Walleyball, and WheelChair Basketball tournaments. Tailgate games, wall climbing, and an Expo Bike challenge are also included in the events.
"Play for Brian is a great time with your friends for a fantastic cause," said Haley Zinn. Mike Venezia added, “It's an amazing time for an amazing guy."
The cost is $10.00 per player and students, faculty, staff and family members are invited to participate.
The Brian Keefer Medical Fund was established to assist the Keefer family. Brian Keefer, a Lock Haven University student, was injured in a gymnastics accident in the summer of 2008 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. Brian, his family and medical support staff have worked extremely hard over the last few years and, as a result, Brian has achieved incredible progress. Unfortunately, medical expenses are overwhelming and a long road still awaits him and his family.
Dawn Keefer, Brian’s mother, expressed her appreciation to the LHU community for their ongoing support through the Play for Brian/Open Rec Night. “I know Brian always enjoys it,” she said. “We are so grateful to you and all the students for all the support and love you have shown Brian and our family."
