LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The HOPE Center at Lock Haven University is pleased to announce its third annual Take Back the Night Vigil. This year’s event will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, starting at 7:00 p.m. on Russell lawn.
Originating in the 1970s (with roots in the United States and Europe), Take Back the Night is a global campaign to end sexual violence. This year’s vigil will feature a keynote address from Cindy Love, director of the Clinton County Women’s Center. Other speakers include members from the student groups Lyrically Speaking and Distinguished Gentlemen. Several vocalists, including members of the Gospel Choir, will perform.
The vigil is a way for campus and community alike to combat sexual assault and to honor survivors. Refreshments will be provided by the Women’s Coalition. All are encouraged to attend. Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State
System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in
the commonwealth. Its 14 universities offer more than 250 degree and certificate
programs in more than 120 areas of study. Nearly 405,000 system alumni live and
work in Pennsylvania.
