LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Lock Haven University welcomes guest speaker Valenté Frazier, an Emmy-award winning, celebrity make-up artist with America's Next Top Model and the Tyra Banks Show. This free event will be held in Ulmer Planetarium and will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7. The public is invited.
Frazier, who hails from Portsmouth, Virginia, worked his way up the ranks in the fashion industry, beginning as an assistant and eventually becoming lead make-up artist to super models, Iman and Tyra Banks. He has established himself as an “artist to the stars” by working with the likes of Michelle Obama, Ciara, and Gabrielle Union. His talk entitled, “Discovering the Beauty Within,” will highlight his struggles and accomplishments in the fashion industry. Touching on topics like body image, the media’s love/hate relationship with “pretty people” and the true price of beauty, Frazier will give an insider’s view into the world of modeling.
This event is sponsored by the President’s Commission on FASSt of Color, the PCSW, the HOPE center, the Office of Human and Cultural Diversity, and the Office of Social Equity. There will also be special performances by NoLabel Royalty, Inc. and Lyrically Speaking.
