LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - On Saturday, April 16, Lock Haven University’s MountainServe Center for Global Citizenship sponsored Community Day, which is one of three national days of service. Approximately 90 students participated, contributing more than 450 hours of community service to 5 projects across Clinton County.

Participating community partners included Susqueview, Pennsylvania CleanWays, Salvation Army, and the Lock Haven YMCA. MountainServe also coordinated the Clinton County Children’s Festival, which was held at the university’s Student Recreation Center.

Alicia Bosak, LHU student and AmeriCorps member who assisted in coordinating the day, said, “Despite the rainy weather, the event was a success. Lock Haven University student volunteers made a difference in the community as well as the lives of its children.”
Mayor Rick Vilello spoke at the opening of the Children’s Festival and remarked that the event “is a great thing that brings the university and the community together.”

Lock Haven University is a member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE), the largest provider of higher education in the commonwealth.
