Inaugural Speech

A message from
Dr. Keith T. Miller

On behalf of the entire
university community,
I would like to welcome
you to Lock Haven University. Located in Pennsylvania's heartland, LHU main and Clearfield campuses are serving approximately 5000 students as each pursues their personal and educational goals.

The faculty, staff and administration's goal at 'The Haven' is to support all facets of learning for new and returning students through traditional classroom, continuing and distance education, or international exchange opportunities.

LHU is one of the few public institutions in the United States to require laptop computers of freshman and transfer students. The requirement is complemented by a wireless technology infrastructure that will encompass virtually the entire campus in the near future. We strive to continuously improve and enhance the learning process.

'The Haven' is truly a family and we strive to sustain an environment where all students feel valued and are nurtured both personally and intellectually.

The university Web site is an excellent resource for learning more about LHU; but a personal visit to see the beauty of the campus, its setting, and to experience first-hand the people and environment is what will convince you that Lock Haven University is the perfect start to your future.

     Sincerely,

     Dr. Keith T. Miller
