To LHU Baseball Fans:
Well, the LHU 2001
baseball season has come to an end with our first ever alumni game. It
seems like everybody had a really good time and we will continue to do
the game on a regular basis. I would like to bring everybody up to
speed on the efforts and work that was done by the booster club members
and the university. The work that was done by the booster club
members and the university. The work that was done at the field was
quite extensive. We finished fencing the rest of the field and added
four gates. The warning track was edged to the proper size and
approximately 50 tons of red stone was added. The bullpens were
moved from the warning track to the outside of the fence and frames were
built to enclose them. The entire field was edged to the proper size and
dirt added where needed. The foul poles welded and repainted and new
fencetop protection was ordered. The sign the was given to Coach Stover
was also installed. We have also started on a plan to install a
grandstand behind the backstop. A model was built to show what it would
look like and believe me it looks nice. The next step is to secure
approval for the structure and then to obtain funding. If there is
anybody that would like to help with this project, contact Coach
Stover. Coach and the booster club members spent many hours there
this summer. Stop out and take a look. We will again be holding our
annual gun raffle. The date has been moved up to February 16,
2002. It will be held again at the Dunnstown Firehall from 1-5
p.m. Tickets will be available from any LHU baseball parent and
info will be sent out to all current baseball alumni. If you do
not get any info in the mail, please contact me so we can update our
files. I can be reached by e-mail at jls42@psu.edu
or my address is Jeff Sowash, 110 Gardner Lane, Furnace, PA.
16865. We will also be having a booster club meeting on December
11 at 7 p.m. in the classroom of the Thomas Field House for the election
of officers for the 2002 season and anything else that may come
up. Coach Stover will also be there for any questions you may have
for him. That's about it for now. I hope that everybody has an
enjoyable Thanksgiving and a wonderful Christmas! Take care.
Jeff Sowash.
