ANTH330     JAPANESE CULTURE AND SOCIETY

ANTH422     ANTHROPOLOGY OF LATIN AMERICA

ANTH424     ANTHROPOLOGY OF THE MIDDLE EAST

An exploration of the political, economic, religious and kinship systems of Middle Eastern peasants, pastoralists and townsmen.  Contemporary issues such as the rise of Islamic Fundamentalism, Arab-Israeli relations, oil wealth, labor migration and development will also be examined from an anthropological perspective.  Prerequisite:  SOCI101 or ANTH101 or ANTH102
