PYAS300     INTRODUCTION TO PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT STUDIES

This course is designed as an introductory course for students contemplating a career as a physician assistant.  The course will expose students to the history and development of the physician assistant profession, the role of the profession in American medicine, and skills required as a pre-requisite to entering the field.  Particular emphasis will be placed o the role of physician assistants in caring for the needs of underserved populations.  This course may be offered either face-to-face or via distance education.  Prerequisites:  Enrollment is limited to those students interested in learning more about the Physician Assistant profession and who have completed at least 30 hours of undergraduate coursework or the permission of the instructor.
