Sociology, B.A.

The University offers a bachelor's degree with a major in Sociology.

Concentrations in --- Delinquent Youth Analysis (previously Administration of Criminal Justice) and in Global Diversity.

The degrees in Sociology/Anthropology not only prepare the student to enter graduate school in the disciplines, but they also serve as an excellent foundation for entrance to other graduate and professional schools.  Students have pursued careers in social and community services, business and industry, law enforcement and corrections.

A major consists of a minimum of 32 sh in Sociology beyond Introduction to Sociology.  Since a sound program in Sociology should include a basic core of courses that provide a sound foundation on which to build, the following courses in Sociology are required: SOCI205, 206, 301 or 302, 352, 354, 402, and 404.  Beyond that the student may freely elect 11 sh of courses in Sociology.  In addition, the student will take another 15 sh of supporting courses in the Social Sciences area.
