Tecnológico de Monterey, Zacatecas Campus, Zacatecas, Mexico
This four week summer program is designed to take advantage of the historic city of Zacatecas as an ideal setting to explore and study the history of Mexico and to enhance students' Spanish language skills. Since the early colonial period of Spain's empire-building in the Americas, Zacatecas was one of two main sources of silver. The riches that flowed from its mines led to the building of beautiful chruches and other colonial buildings and the commissioning of artwork which makes Zacatecas today a UNESCO "Cultural Heritage of Humanity" site. This colonial architectural and artistic legacy has been well-preserved in modern Zacatecas, a medium-sized city situated 600 kilometers north of Mexico City.
