Tuition and Fees:

The estimated tuition and fees for six credits during the 2005 Summer Session will be $1,500. There will also be a program fee which will include the cost of housing, most meals, field trips, and medical insurance. This fee will be approximately $600.

Airfare:

Roundtrip airfare from Philadelphia, PA to Aguascalientes, Mexico (approximately two hours by bus to Zacatecas) will cost between $535-600. We will take LHUP vans from Lock Haven University to Philadelphia International Airport. The Institute for International Studies will provide $500 per student to defray these travel expenses. That means that each student will be responsible for about $50-100 of their international travel costs.

Field Trips:

Several field trips to a local mine and museums will be taken within Zacatecas city itself. As well, there will be at least one trip to an archaelogical site called La Quemada, 30 miles south of the dity. There are also plans for three other field trips to sites of significant historical and/or archaelogical interest located within 2-4 hours of the city of Zacatecas.

The trips being planned to date are to the archaelogical site of Alta Vista near Sombrerete and Apozol, both in the state of Zacatecas, and San Miguel de Allende and Dolores in the state of Guanajuato. These places played a key role in the independence of Mexico. The price of these field trips, which will include transportation, meals and entrance fees, will be included in the program fee.

Health Insurance:

All students must have health insurance while studying abroad. The cost for four weeks of health insurance for students (18-25 years of age) should be about $50.

Textbooks:

Textbooks for the two history courses will cost approximately $100 .
