| Dr. Ralph L. Harnishfeger, Professor of Biological
Sciences at Lock Haven University. B.S. Cornell University,
Ithaca, New York; M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Southern Illinois
University at Carbondale. Major areas of interest include
Wildlife Biology and Management, Mammalogy, Environmental Policy
and Regulations, Wetlands Restoration and Functions. Also

Physiology.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
Research areas currently being pursued, or recently
completed, include the use of
mitigation wetlands by mammals, water chemistry of mitigation
wetlands, small mammal surveys of selected areas and habitats,
invertebrate use, colonization of natural and
created/restored wetlands and a statewide survey for the
Appalachian cottontail, Sylvilagus obscurus. I am also currently working to
expand the archives of the Institute for the Study of the West Branch of the Susquehanna
River (WBI). This work has been supported through a campus
grant as well as a Growing Greener Grant from the
Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. This
archiving effort will, we hope, help direct future research to
meet information
needs by identifying gaps as well as synthesis opportunities
with existing information. To find out more about
the West Branch Institute please visit www.lhup.edu/wbi/home.htm
