Ronald E. Miller, Associate Professor of Music at Lock Haven University, serves as the Director of Vocal Music Activities. In addition to directing the university choirs, he teaches music fundamentals, introduction to singing, music for the theatre, and studio voice. From 1995-97 he was Director of Choral Activities at Oklahoma City Community College, where he taught the college's four choirs, music theory and music appreciation. While recently completing course work for a Ph.D. in Music Education, Mr. Miller served as a graduate teaching assistant at West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. In addition to his course work, he taught methods courses, supervised student teachers, and directed the lab choir. From 1988-93, he was director of choral activities at Heritage High School in Lynchburg, Virginia. While at Heritage, his show choir, The New Heritage Singers, received numerous awards and honors. Among the many awards were Grand Champion at the Central Virginia Show Choir Festival in Richmond and Grand Champion at the Mid-Atlantic Show Choir Festival at James Madison University. Prior to teaching in Virginia, Miller was director of choral activities at Fairmont (WV) State College. Besides directing the college's choirs, he taught numerous education courses as well as private vocal instruction. During that time, Mr. Miller served as president of the West Virginia chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Before that, Mr. Miller directed high school choirs in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio. Among numerous honors, his choirs were selected on four occasions as the West Virginia Music Educators Association Honor Choir. He is in frequent demand as a guest conductor and adjudicator, and has recently been elected into "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Mr. Miller earned both his bachelors and masters degrees in music education from West Virginia University in Morgantown. Ron resides in Lock Haven, PA with his wife Renee and their daughter Emily. |
