Lock Haven University Safe Zone

Resources for GLBT Students

This site is designed to provide some initial information for GLBT students. It is divided into sections regarding social support, personal support, counseling services, medical services and additional resources.

Please be sure to visit our FAQ page to find additional information.

Social Support
Lock Haven has a student group, the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) to provide a form of social support for GLBT students. They also attempt to increase communication between GLBT and non-GLBT students. For more information about GSA, please visit GSA's Facebook page.

Lock Haven also has a local chapter of PFLAG. More information on the Lock Haven PFLAG chapter can be found at their website.

Personal Support
The Safe Zone provides support for students seeking more information about GLBT issues, as well as a "safe haven." The Safe Zone members, also known as Allies, can be found on our Allies page.

Counseling Services
LHU students have access to both on-campus and off-campus counseling services. For more information on the services available, please visit our Counseling page.

Medical Services
There are several resources available to students looking for health information. All LHU community members can make use of the Glennon Infirmary, which has both doctors and nurses on staff. For information regarding other medical resources, please visit the Medical Resources page.

Additional Resources
The LHU Equity Office is available for students who feel that they are being discriminated against. If you feel you are being discriminated against this is where you start to right the wrong.

LGBT Scholarships are available from a variety of sources. Please visit the GLBT Scholarships page for more information.
