PsyCenter Fall 2011

The Psychology Department is excited to announce the continuation of our drop-in tutoring center where you can get help with any of your psychology classes. Students in 100 and 200 level PSYC courses that have an assigned tutors through the Tutoring Center are encouraged to use that service. The PsyCenter is located in 306 Robinson Hall and is staffed by highly qualified upper-class psychology majors. Hours of operation, beginning Tuesday September 6th through Thursday December 15th , are as follows:

Monday through Thursday evenings from 5:00pm – 8:30pm.

Expectations of students who use the PsyCenter:
  • Come prepared
    • Complete all related readings
    • Complete assigned homework to the best of your ability
    • Bring the following materials: textbooks, notes, homework sheets, study gudies, and index cards if you wish to make study cards
    • Study the material before you meet with the tutor so you are...
    • prepared to explain what you understand and what you need help with
  • Don't expect tutors to do your homework for you.
  • Don't use the PsyCenter as a substitue for attendng class.  If you miss a class, get notes from a classmate.  It is not the tutor's job to teach you something because you missed class.
  •  Don't wait until the night before an exam to get help.  That means you need to start studying early enough to identify that you need help.
If you have any questions about the PsyCenter, please contact Dr. Offutt, Psychology Department Chairperson at coffutt@lhup.edu
