Airfare is for roundtrip from Newark or Philly to London. Does not include fee for changing flights and not returning with group on June 1?th.

Lodging is for 28, 29, or 30 nights (depending on airfare considerations) in either a double or triple, depending on pairings and gender matches.

Experiential element includes 12 total experiences (plays, mainly, though History may have other experiences, like museums).

Fixed costs cover buses to and from the airport, to and from Stratford, and program faculty expenses.

Meals

You are responsible for your own meals. This figure is hard to calculate, since different individuals will take different approaches. $500 is probably a reasonable estimate, though, with a kitchen in each student flat, costs could be lower.  Exchange rate

Courses

Obviously, the courses have yet to be confirmed (this may not happen till early ’06); however, this is the likely combination:

English336: Shakespeare

A survey of several (5?) plays (probably all standards and heavy on comedies) of England’s greatest playwright.  Seen at various venues, including the Globe and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Theater340: History of Theatre

Counts as LHU Gen Ed; a survey of some aspect of the theatre, with some historical approach.  Sometimes the theme has been classics (Chekhov, Shaw, Wilde), sometimes emphasis on contemporary British theatre (McPherson, Bennett, Frayn), depending on selections while we are in London.  Venues are important: you will see plays in the National Theatre, and probably the Barbican, Old or New Vic, and Royal Court).

History328: ???

Dr. Hickey will determine this course later; it will count as a social science seminar for LHU students.
