We welcome you to your association with
the Social Work
Program of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania.
The primary purpose of Lock Haven’s Social Work Program is the
preparation of students for beginning generalist social work practice.
Graduates find employment in many fields of social services and
with
a variety of clientele, including children and the elderly, the
mentally
ill and the mentally retarded, adult and juvenile offenders, abused
women and children, the physically ill and the addicted.
They work
in hospitals, child welfare agencies, institutions for dependent
populations, group homes, mental health centers, nursing homes,
women’s shelters, community centers, and many other human service
organizations. Several of
our graduates go on to graduate school in social work, either
immediately after graduation or at some later time.
We are very proud of our graduates
and extremely proud of our program.
In addition to a well-designed curriculum of academic course
work, students benefit from a variety of volunteer and field
experiences. They also
participate in an active Social Work Club, which is run by the
students, and which provides opportunities for educational, social, and
community service activities. By
the time
of graduation, social work majors are competent professionals prepared
to work effectively with people as individuals, in families,
in groups, and in the community.
This site is for the use of the
