The Autism Society of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter is pleased to announce the Todd Roche Memorial Scholarship that will be awarded in December 2012. Todd Roche had hoped to pursue a degree in special education after he worked with children with autism and tragically died in September of 2004. Todd’s family graciously designated the Autism Society of America, Lehigh Valley Chapter as the recipient for donations and we would like to honor his memory by offering an annual scholarship in his name. We hope to keep his dream of helping children continue through other students pursuing their education to work with special needs individuals. The scholarship is intended to help students that are interested in careers working with children, teens, or adults with autism.

Please share this application with your students studying Special Education/Education, Psychology, Physical Therapy, Speech Language Pathology or Occupational Therapy Degrees or related degrees and encourage them to apply. Information must be received by December 1, 2012, and the money will be given for the spring 2013 semester. Key criteria for the scholarship will be for students 1) who express an interest in careers working with children or adults with autism and 2) who have dedicated part of their volunteer/work experience teaching, training or in some capacity helping children or adults with autism.

You will receive a hard copy of the attached application in the mail within the next two weeks. Thank you very much for sharing this information with your students. We look forward to receiving their applications.

Mimi Ludwig,
President, ASA-LV Chapter
