What is Forensics?

Often thought of only applying to courts of law and evidence, contemporary forensics is the art of public discussion which includes speech, debate, researched argument and other forms of rhetoric. It seems obvious why it would have its roots in law and courtrooms.  Forensics is competitive speech and debate.  The Forensics Team attends tournaments where members compete in the different areas of speech,   interpretation, and debate events.
