| February 19, 2000 -- LHU SWIMMERS TAKE 11TH PLACE AT PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women's swimming team finished in 11th place at the 2000 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships, which were being held at the Memorial Field House Natatorium at Indiana (Pa.) University. First place honors in the 12-team field in the women's division went to Clarion University (446 team points), with West Chester University a close runner-up (426.5 team points). Lock Haven was 11th with 44.5 team points. Top finishes for the Lady Eagles include an eighth place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (March, Maksinchuk, Lebo, Chernyl), which clocked a 3:45.13 in the finals. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team (March, Maksinchuk, Lebo, Cherynl) and the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay squad (March, Wagonseller, Lebo, Chernyl) both finished in ninth place. The 200 Freestyle Relay quartet touched the wall in 1:43.04, a new school record (previously existing record was 1:43.99), and the 800 Freestyle Relay finished in 8:24.31. Individually, Beth Chernyl (Luzerne/Wyoming Valley West) finished in a tie for ninth place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 25.52, and recorded a tenth place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:01.29). She was also a member of four relay squads. Erin March (Wellsville/Dover) earned an 11th place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle (55.53), and was a member of the record-setting 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team, along with three other Haven relay teams. WOMEN'S SWIM TEAM WRAPS UP COMPETITION AT KUTZTOWN TRIANGULARThe Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women's swimming team dropped two dual meets today, falling to Kutztown University, 35-60, and Millersville University, 47-48, at a triangular meet hosted by Kutztown University. Sophomore Beth Chernyl (Luzerne/Wyoming Valley West) took first place overall in the 100 and 200-Meter Freestyle events with the top times (56.77; 2:02.24) recorded in those events. When matched against Millersville times, The Haven's 400-Meter Freestyle Relay team finished first. The relay team was composed of Chernyl along with sophomores Erin March (Wellsville/Dover) and Rhonda Wagonseller (Mohrsville/ Schuylkill), and freshman Tanna Davidson (Stevens/Cocalico). Davidson and March also swam on the winning 200-Meter Medley Relay along with freshman Kristen Maksinchuk (Pittsburgh/Plum) and senior Stacey Lebo (Northampton). When LHU's times are compared against those of Kutztown, Chernyl remained the lone first-place finisher for the Lady Eagles. The Lock Haven swimming team, now 3-4 overall and 1-3 against PSAC teams, is next in competition on January 22, when they will travel to Bloomsburg University (with East Stroudsburg University) for another triangular meet. |

SWIMMERS FINISH 6TH AT KUTZTOWN INVITATIONAL The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women's swim team under the guidance of first-year head coach Jennifer Fenton-Cournoyer earned a sixth-place finish out of a 10 team field at the Another Level Swimming Invitational hosted by Kutztown University of Pennsylvania this past weekend. Kutztown University was the top team finisher at the invitational, with 394 points. Albright College and Salisbury State University followed in second and third place with 379 and 358 points. The University of Scranton was fourth (292) and East Stroudsburg University placed fifth (271). Lock Haven came in sixth, recording 175 team points. Elizabethtown College (171), Monroe Community College (80), Ocean Community College (14), and Essex Community College (5) were also in competition. Below is a list of the scorers for The Haven team:

| November 21, 1999 -- LOCK HAVEN WOMEN'S SWIM TEAM LOSES TO SLIPPERY ROCK The Lock Haven University of Pennslyvania women's swimming team fell to Slippery Rock University on Saturday by the final score of 109-88. With the loss, the Lady Eagles move to 2-2 for the season in dual meet action. In the loss, freshman Erin March (Wellsville/Dover) finished first in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 26.63. Also with a first-place victory was The Haven's 200 meer Freestyle team of March, Beth Chernyl (Luzerne/Wyoming Valley West), Tanna Davidson (Stevens/Cocalico), and Stephanie Goldberg (Bethlehem/Freedom). Overall, Lock Haven head coach Jennifer Fenton-Cournoyer remarked that it was a good meet, though the Lady Eagles were battling sickness and injury. Next up for the Lock Haven swimming team is a dual meet at home against Lycoming College on Monday, November 22, in Zimmerli Pool at 6 p.m. |
