LHU Softball's Hughes Tabbed PSAC West Player of the Week

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Courtney Hughes (Schwenksville/Souderton), a sophomore on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania softball team, was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Player of the Week for games ending April 18.
          Hughes led the Lady Eagles to a perfect 6-0 week, hitting .571 over the span. The sophomore shortstop went 4-for-4 in a come-from-behind 9-3 victory over
Slippery Rock University at home on Lawrence Field, pounding out two doubles and a triple along with three RBI.  She recorded three hits, including a home run, a double and two RBI in a 10-2 win over Slippery Rock.  
          On the season, Hughes has started in all 33 games and is averaging .327 with seven doubles, a triple and a team-best four homers. Her total of 19 RBI ranks second on the squad.  Defensively, the shortstop leads LHU with 79 assists in addition to 50 putouts.
          The Lady Eagle softball team, now 20-13 overall and in the hunt for a PSAC tournament playoff bid, will next travel to Holy Family College on Wed., April 21.
