Haven Softball's Guevara Named PSAC West Pitcher of the Week

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Shona Guevara (Chino Hills, Calif./Ruben S. Ayala), a sophomore on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania softball team, was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher of the Week for games ending April 25.
Guevara had a key role in a 6-0 week for the Lady Eagles, helping secure a playoff spot in the PSAC tournament. She went 3-0 in three appearances, winning two by shutout with a spotless earned run average. In a total of 23 innings pitched, the sophomore pitcher fanned 28 batters while giving up just one extra base hit, a double, and walking only one batter.
On the season, Guevara owns a 1.58 earned run average and is the Haven’s wins leader with a 12-5 ledger from the pitcher’s circle. In 124.1 innings of work, she has piled up a team-best 120 strikeouts and seven wins by shutouts.
The Lady Eagle softball team is 26-13 overall and finished out the PSAC West regular season with a 16-4 record. Lock Haven clinched a playoff spot, and must wait for results of today’s California ( Pa. ) University- Edinboro University doubleheader to see where they will finish in the division. Should California win at least one of the two, California would be the top seed and Lock Haven would be the No. 2 seed. The Western Division top seed will host the PSAC Tournament from April 29-May 1.  Eastern Division teams include top-seeded Shippensburg University (40-4, 21-2 PSAC East) and No. 2-seed Kutztown University (27-15, 15-9 PSAC East).
