football defensive back Rob Carey (
N. Braddock/Woodland
Hills) and wide receiver Marcus
Burkley (Pittsburgh/Woodland Hills) have earned recognition on the D2Football.com
All-Northeast Region Teams.
Senior
defensive back Rob Carey receives his
second-straight All-Northeast Region nod from D2Football.com, this year being
named a Second Team defensive back. A
four-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division
pick at defensive back and a three-time return specialist selection, Carey
posted 59 tackles this season, splitting time between strong safety and
cornerback. He recorded a
season-high of 10 stops against Shippensburg, and also added an interception,
three pass breakups, a forced fumble and two blocked field goals.

Marcus Burkley, a senior wide
receiver, made the Honorable Mention All-Northeast Region list, his first such
selection. Burkley, a four-time
All-PSAC West receiver, set the Lock Haven career touchdowns reception mark by
catching five this season to bring his four-year total to the new record of 19
touchdowns. He led LHU in scoring with seven touchdowns and was fifth in the
PSAC with 42 catches (4.67/gm) for an average of 58.4 yards a game. His biggest
statistical game of the season came versus
California
(
Pa.
) University, scoring three touchdowns with a reception, a fumble
recovery/return and a kickoff return.
The
Bald Eagle football team, under fourth-year head coach Mark Luther, closed out
its 2003 campaign with a 3-8 overall and 1-5 PSAC Western Division record.
The D2Football.com All-Northeast Region Teams recognize student-athletes
from the programs competing in the Northeast Region consisting of the Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), Northeast 10 Conference
(NE-10), PSAC, West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) and
independents Gannon, New Haven, St. Joseph’s and Tiffin.
