(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Mike
Maney (Clarence/Bald Eagle Area), a senior wrestler for Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania, became the 14th grappler in the
program’s history to reach the 100-wins plateau after piling on three more
wins this weekend at the Clarion Duals.
Maney
had a 98-23 career record entering into the three dual meets on Sunday, moving
one step closer with an 8-0 major decision over Kent
State’s Jason Bake. He entered the history books with a 10-2 major decision over
Drexel’s Mark Cartella, moving his four-year total to 100-23.
He added another win versus Pitt-Johnstown’s Ryan Ickes, 5-0, giving
him a new total of 101-23 which ranks the Bald Eagle 13th on the
school’s all-time win list.
A
two-time All-American and three-time Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference champion, Maney is currently 16-2 this season. His
career total of 101-23 (.815 winning pct.) includes 22 wins by major decision,
five by technical fall and 21 by pin.
The
Bald Eagles, now 3-1 overall, will send select wrestlers to the Midlands
Wrestling Championships from Dec. 29-30.
