LHU's Mike Maney Earns EWL Wrestler of the Week Honors

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Mike Maney (Clarence/Bald Eagle Area), a senior on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania wrestling team, garnered Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Wrestler of the Week accolades for competition ending February 1, 2004.
This past weekend, Maney helped the Bald Eagles to a second-place finish at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The senior grappler captured his fourth conference title with a win at 149-pounds, making him only the 13th wrestler in PSAC history and the seventh in LHU history to win the individual crown in all four years. He was also named the tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler for his efforts.
On the season, Maney carries a 26-3 win-loss record.  He has tallied the most wins (26) of any wrestler in the NCAA Division I at 149-pounds and has also earned a No. 7 national ranking.  With this past weekend’s wins, he ranks in a tie for 10th place on the school’s all-time wins list with 111 career victories.
The Bald Eagle wrestling team (3-5, 0-2 EWL) will next take on league opponent Cleveland State on Sun., Feb. 8, at Thomas Fieldhouse at 7:30 p.m.
