LHU's Mike Maney Earns EWL Wrestler of the Week

(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Mike
Maney (Clarence/Bald Eagle Area), a senior on the Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania wrestling team, garnered Eastern
Wrestling League (EWL) Wrestler of the Week accolades for
competition ending February 1, 2004.
This
past weekend, Maney helped the Bald Eagles to a second-place finish at the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships. The senior
grappler captured his fourth conference title with a win at 149-pounds, making
him only the 13th wrestler in PSAC history and the seventh in LHU
history to win the individual crown in all four years. He was also named the
tournament’s Outstanding Wrestler for his efforts.
On the
season, Maney carries a 26-3 win-loss record.
He has tallied the most wins (26) of any wrestler in the NCAA Division I
at 149-pounds and has also earned a No. 7 national ranking.
With this past weekend’s wins, he ranks in a tie for 10th
place on the school’s all-time wins list with 111 career victories.
The
Bald Eagle wrestling team (3-5, 0-2 EWL) will next take on league opponent
Cleveland
State
on Sun., Feb. 8, at Thomas Fieldhouse at
7:30 p.m.
