track and field’s Jim
Dempsey (Blue Bell/Wissahickon) was selected as the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for events ending
Feb 8.
Dempsey, a freshman for the Bald Eagles, won first place in the high
jump at the East Stroudsburg Dick DeSchriver Invitational with clearance of
6’10-1/4”. That height marks an
NCAA provisionally qualifying performance and ties him for the conference’s
best effort in the event. It is
also a new school record, bettering the previous mark of 6’8-1/2” last
shared by Aaron Wynings (1997) and Glen Allison (1994).
