Lady Eagle Swimmers Gear Up For PSAC Championships

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team will compete at the 2004 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships from February 18-21.  The conference meet is hosted by Indiana ( Pa. ) University in its Memorial Field House.  
            Eight Haven swimmers will vie for top honors and look to improve on the team’s 2003 eighth place showing.  Last season the Lady Eagles set seven school records while swimming at the conference championships and had one swimmer, Isabel Carniero ( Rio de Janiero , Brazil ), earn All-PSAC honors with a runner-up finish in the 200 Butterfly.
            Entering into this season’s competition, four Lock Haven swimmers, Tatiana Patakyova (So., Poprad-Matejouce, Slovak Republic/Gymnazium Pop. Nabrezie), Diane Sujansky (Fr., Plum/Plum), Gerda Smirnova (Fr., Riga , Latvia )  and Katie Greiniesen (Fr., Pittsburgh/Plum)  have all registered top-ten times among the swimmers entered at the PSAC Championships in their respective events.  
            Patakyova checks in with the fifth-fastest time in the 100 Butterfly in 59.21.  She ranks sixth in the 200 Individual Medley with a mark of 2:12.92 and is seventh in the 100 Freestyle with the time of 53.99. 
            Sujansky has the fourth-fastest time among 50 Freestyle competitors with a school-record clocking of 24.43.  She is seeded eighth in the 100 Breaststroke with her school-record time of 1:08.13.       
           
Smirnova has recorded the ninth-fastest time among competitors in the 100 Freestyle, entering into the conference meet with a season-best time of 54.35.
            Greiniesen posted a time of 18:42.58 in the 1650 Freestyle, which currently seeds her 10th in the event.
            The PSAC Championships are scheduled to run from Wed., Feb. 18 through Sat., Feb. 21. Ticket prices for the morning single sessions is $5 while the evening sessions pass is $7.  An adult all-session pass is $35. Student price for a single session pass is $2 while an all-session pass is $10.
