round-robin against No. 16-ranked

, No. 5 China and No. 7 North Korea with the winning team advancing directly to
the 2004 Olympic Games in

February 18,
New Zealand
lost 2-0 to their
Oceania
rivals
Australia
. Without relinquishing a goal,
Rangi played the entire second half at the center-back position. She is
expected to be in the starting line-up when
New Zealand
squares off against world powerhouse
China
this Sunday, February 22.
New Zealand
then plays
North Korea
on February 24 to complete the round-robin tournament.
Rangi
is a member of both the women’s soccer and track and field teams at
Lock
Haven
University
. As a member of the Lady Eagle
soccer team, Rangi earned All-America accolades and was named the Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Year in 2002. She is also a
two-time First Team All-PSAC and All-Northeast Region recipient, earning both
honors this past season.
As a track and
field student-athlete at the Haven, Rangi was a NCAA Division II outdoor
nationals competitor in the heptathlon in 2003 and is a PSAC champion in the
high jump and heptathlon.
