Below is the LHU weight-by-weight preview:

125: Sophomore Jim Collins (Jonestown/Northern Lebanon) improved to 11-6 on the season with his first fall of the season in 2:11 over Virginia Tech’s Ryan Broughman last Friday. Collins went 0-3 against Edinboro’s Gray last season, but with Gray moving to 133 pounds, wipes the slate clean as he is predicted to face freshman Chris Pruden.

133: The starting role for the Bald Eagles at 133 pounds could be filled by either freshman Casey Moore (Beech Creek/Central Mountain) or senior Dave Predko (Ridgway/Ridgway). Moore is now 10-10 overall after a 14-5 loss to No. 10-ranked David Hoffman of Virginia Tech. Predko, the Wilkes Open champion in late December, is 5-5 on the season.

141: Freshman Ian McGoldrick (Brodheadsville/Pleasant Valley) is currently 3-4after last wrestling at the Virginia Duals. Senior John Holsinger (Pennsbury/Quakertown) could also see mattime. Holsinger moved up to wrestle at 141 pounds last weekend, defeating Tech’s Chris Smolko, 7-3, to improve to 3-6 this season.

149: Last Friday’s 6-4 win over Virginia Tech’s Reed Carpenter brought No. 6-ranked Mike Maney (Clarence/Bald Eagle Area) to a total of 107 career victories. With one more, he would move into a three-way tie for the 11th best all-time wins total at LHU. Maney, now 22-3 on the season, is the team leader with six wins by fall and three technical falls.

157: Senior Charlie Brenneman (Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) is tied with Maney for wins this season with an overall ledger of 22-4 after scoring a 14-5 major decision over Tech’s Andrew Donofrio last Friday. Brenneman will be looking to even the score after losing to Edinboro’s Eric Ring by a 13-5 major decision in last year’s dual meet. The two did not meet up at either the PSAC or EWL Tournament.

165: Jason Gilligan (Brookville/Brookville) lost a 1-1 sudden victory decision against No. 20-ranked Chris Stith of Virginia Tech in his most recent match-up, bringing his season total to 7-5 overall. Despite his limited number of bouts wrestled, the senior still owns the second highest pins total this season with four. Gilligan went 0-2 against Edinboro’s Matt King last season, falling 7-2 in the PSAC championship match and a much closer 3-1 decision in the second round of the EWL tournament.

174: The job at 174 pounds could be handed to either Derrick Morgan (Milan/Athens) or Dan Riggs (Hanover/Delone Catholic). Red-shirt frosh Derrick Morgan is now 1-5 on the season after suffering a fall versus Steve Borja of Virginia Tech. Riggs is 5-6 this season.

184:
Senior Mike Greenberg (Canton/Canton) has won his last two bouts, most recently defeating Tech’s Shaun Guttridge, 7-2. With the win, Greenberg is now 10-9 on the season. Greenberg has matched up against Edinboro’s Alex Clemsen before, going 0-2 in a pair of close bouts last season, losing 4-1 in the dual meet and 6-5 in the third-place bout of the EWL tournament.

197: Weighing in for the Bald Eagles at 197 pounds is red-shirt freshman Carlos Ponce (Hialeah, Fla./Hialeah Miami Lakes). Ponce lost by fall against Tech’s Canaan Prater last weekend, moving his season win-loss mark to 5-9.

HWT: Senior Steve Itterly (Bethlehem/Nazareth) is expected to handle duties at heavyweight. Itterly lost a 6-3 decision in the Virginia Tech match, dropping him to 8-8 overall. Last season Itterly and Edinboro’s Joe Hennis met three times, Itterly winning in one of the three. The Bald Eagle’s victory came in the PSAC championship semifinals where he pinned Hennis in 3:08. Hennis bounced back with a 6-5 decision in the dual meet and a 4-2 win in the first round of the EWL championship.

UP NEXT:
The Bald Eagles will gear up for the PSAC Championships held in Edinboro, Pa., from Jan. 30-31. Lock Haven placed second at the 2003 conference tournament.
