LHU Football Alum Carey Named AF2 Player of the
Week

(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Recent Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania football standout Rob Carey recently earned
arenafootball2’s ADT Defensive Player of the Week honors for games during the
week of July 12-18. Carey has
played for the league’s Manchester Wolves (http://www.manchesterwolves.com)
since early June.
Rookie
defensive specialist Carey came up big defensively for the Wolves in a game
versus the first place Cape Fear Wildcats. He totaled a game high of 10.5
tackles, including seven solo stops, along with three passes defended. His
biggest impact was felt as he nabbed two interceptions, each leading to Wolves
touchdowns.
In
just six games played since being assigned to the Wolves’ roster, Carey ranks
second in tackles (46.5) and third in both interceptions (3) and pass breakup
(8).
While
at Lock Haven from 2000-2003, Carey twice earned All-America accolades from
D2Football.com and was a four-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Western Division First Team pick at defensive back and a three-time selection
as a return specialist. The four-year starter ended his Haven career on top of
the charts in career punt return yards (744), punt returns for touchdowns (2),
kick returns (85), kick return yardage (1915), kick returns for touchdowns (2)
and interception return yardage (11/18 yds).
His 276 career tackles rank him 10th on the Bald Eagles’
all-time chart.
