LHU's Campbell To Add Women's Soccer Coaching Duties
After Champ Resigns Post

(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Associate Director of Athletics Peter Campbell will temporarily add the role of head women’s soccer coach for the upcoming season. His appointment comes after the recent resignation of two-year head coach Shannon Champ.
The new role brings Campbell out of retirement after he previously served as the head coach of the Haven program during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. Under his guidance, those teams compiled a 31-6-4 overall record and earned a pair of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships along with two straight berths into the NCAA Division II national tournament. During both seasons he claimed PSAC Coach of the Year honors as well as National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Northeast Region Coach of the Year honors.
Campbell will temporarily take over the reigns for the 2004 season. A national search will be carried out during the fall to bring in a new head coach by the close of the year.  He replaces former head coach Shannon Champ, who recently resigned due to personal and family reasons.
Champ, the head coach the past two seasons, guided the Lady Eagle team to a 26-14-3 mark. The 2002 squad established the first undefeated record in the PSAC regular season, finishing the year as PSAC tournament semifinalists and NCAA Northeast Region finalists. In 2003, she coached a young group of Lady Eagles to the PSAC championship game.
The University will open the search for a new women’s soccer coach in the fall in order to bring the new hire on board by the close of 2004.
