LHU Hosts Local Qualifying Meet For USA Track &
Field Junior Olympic Championships

Haven
University
will host the
Northwest Pennsylvania
local qualifying meet for the USA Track & Field Junior Olympic
Championships series this Saturday, June 5, at Hubert Jack Stadium beginning at
9 a.m.
. It is the first qualifying event in the series of meets which culminates in
the National Junior Olympic Championships in
Eugene
,
Oregon
, from July 27 through August 1.
The
Northwest Pennsylvania
local meet is open to athletes from the following counties:
Bradford
, Cameron, Centre,
Clinton
,
Columbia
, Lycoming, Montour, Northumberland, Potter, Sullivan, Tioga, and
Union
. Divisions include age groups up to and including 18 years of age. On-site
registration will be available for those interested or an entry form can be
obtained by going to the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic Championship
website at www.mausatf.org and clicking
on the 2004 Junior Olympic headline. The
fee per event is $4.00 and ribbons will be awarded to first through sixth-place
finishers.
The top six athletes in each event advance to the Mid-Atlantic
Association Championships hosted by
Springfield
High School
in
Orefield
,
Pa.
, on June 19.
