Brenneman and Maney Make PSAC Winter Top Ten List

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania wrestlers Charlie Brenneman (Hollidaysburg/ Hollidaysburg) and Mike Maney (Clarence/Bald Eagle Area) were both selected as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Winter Top Ten award winners, as released today by the conference office.

The PSAC Top Ten awards recognize five male and five female student-athletes from the PSAC who distinguish themselves in the classroom, as well as in the arena of competition.  The conference designates Top Ten Award winners after each of the competitive sports seasons, fall, winter and spring.
This is the first PSAC Top Ten honor for Charlie Brenneman, an NCAA qualifier and All-PSAC wrestler for the Bald Eagles. Brenneman led the Haven in wins this season with a 35-11 overall record and was also the team leader with eight major decisions. He placed third at the PSAC Championships and fifth at this year’s Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) Championships where he earned his first NCAA bid as a wild card pick. Earlier in the season, Brenneman won the individual title at the West Virginia Open. He is a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and a two-time EWL All-Academic Team member. A senior majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in Spanish, Brenneman owns an impressive 3.98 grade point average.

It is Lock Haven wrestler Mike Maney’s second PSAC Top Ten award, also earning the honor last winter. Maney has earned a 3.46 grade point average while majoring in Secondary Education/Social Sciences. A two-time All-American, he won the ‘Outstanding Wrestler’ award at the PSAC Championships after claiming the PSAC title for the fourth time.  This past December, Maney became the 14th wrestler in Lock Haven history to reach the 100-wins plateau and wrapped up his career tied for fifth place on the University all-time wins list with a four-year total of 119-29.  He finished second on the team in wins this season with a record of 34-8.  Maney is a four-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Academic All-America honorable mention and also earned Verizon Academic All-District honors in 2003.
