Haven, Pa.) - Brooke
Rangi (Kawerau, New Zealand/Kawerau College) and
Danielle Smith (Johnson, N.Y./Minisink Valley), both of the Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team, earned recognition as
All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) selections as voted on by the
league’s coaches.
Junior Brooke Rangi earns
First Team All-PSAC honors as a defender, her second first-team pick but her
first selection as a back. Rangi helped direct a defense that allowed an
average of 1.91 goals per game. Also
a contributor on offense, she was third on the squad in scoring with 14 points
from five goals and four assists. She
scored one of her five goals in the second half of the PSAC Semifinal match-up
against
West Chester
University
, giving the Lady Eagles the 2-1 win and advancing them to the championship
game.
Danielle
Smith, a junior midfielder, makes her second appearance on the Second Team
All-PSAC list after earning similar honors last season as a defender. Smith
scored four goals and three assists including the game-winner in a 1-0 victory
over
Clarion
University
.
The Lock Haven women’s soccer team, under the direction of second-year
head coach Shannon Champ, closed out its 2003 campaign with a 10-12-1 overall
record and a 6-5-1 ledger in the PSAC.
