Two
Lady Eagles, Jen DeNault and Nikki Sweger, were selected as First Team
All-Americans.
It is
the third First Team selection and the fourth All-America honor for senior back
Jen DeNault. DeNault was the 2003
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Year and earned a
First Team All-PSAC pick for the third-straight season.
She helped lead a defense that allowed only 0.81 goals per game.
A threat offensively as well, DeNault’s 10 goals and five assists
ranked her 10th in the conference in scoring with 25 points and 1.19
points per game. She was also 11th
in goals per game with 0.48 per contest.
Sophomore
forward Nikki Sweger earns her second
All-America accolade, meriting first team honors this season after receiving
second-team honors as a freshman. Sweger
finished out the season as the PSAC leader in goals with 21 and was second in
both points (46) and points per game (2.19).
A two-time All-PSAC forward, she scored two or more goals in six games
this season.
Both
Courtney Hughes and Kellie Kulina earned Second Team All-America mention.
It
marks the first All-America award for sophomore back Courtney Hughes. Hughes,
a two-time All-PSAC defender, helped pilot a defense that allowed 0.81 goals
per game. Offensively, she contributed five goals and eight assists.
Junior
forward Kellie Kulina earns her first
All-America nod, receiving second team honors.
Kulina is a three-time All-PSAC forward and scored eight goals and led
the Lady Eagles with 12 assists this season.
The 2003
Lock Haven field hockey team closed out the season with an overall record of
17-4 as a PSAC semifinalist.
