LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced their
basketball preseason polls and all-PSAC teams during their annual video
conference today. Lock Haven University men were chosen sixth in the West
Division and the women were chosen seventh in a poll of the PSAC’s head
coaches.
The Bald Eagles are
looking for huge improvement this season coming off of a 4-23 season last
year. The first conference game for the Bald Eagles will be against the
Wolves of Cheyney University on Dec. 4, at a 3 p.m. tip-off in Thomas Field
House. The Bald Eagles have some key players returning this upcoming season
including senior
Joe Walker
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain). He is one of several veterans that will
be looked upon this upcoming year to help lead the underclass and the rest
of his teammates to an improvement this season.
The Lock Haven women’s
basketball team opens its 2004-2005 season at LeMoyne College on Nov. 15,
with a tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m. It won’t be until Nov. 23, when the
Lady Eagles have their home opener against Virginia Union University at 5
p.m. in Thomas Feildhouse. The Lady Eagles will be challenged by the Cheyney
University in first conference match up on Dec. 4, with a 1 p.m. tip-off.
The Lady Eagles look to improve their overall record this year. They have
some solid incoming freshman that will need the guidance of senior forward
Melissa Picarsic
(Acme, Pa./Mt. Pleasant).
California University
(Pa.) and Kutztown University took top honors in the men’s poll, while
California and West Chester University were given the No. 1s in the women’s
ranking.
